1. Enhancing Capacity Building of Quality Assurance in the Arab region.
1.1 Policy Dialogues for Arab Countries that lack Quality Assurance Systems.
A workshop in Sudan in December, 2009 which included participants from Djibouti, Somalia and Eritrea and another one in Morocco on March, 2010 which included participants from Algeria Tunisia and Libya had been used to communicate and sustain dialogue with countries that did not yet developed QAA. All participants of these two workshops with exception of Libya and Morocco are not members of ANQAHE. ANQAHE is working to sustain this dialogue through web forum discussion with countries that have the capability to use this technology.
1.2 Policy Dialogues for Regional Initiatives in QA
The main objective of this activity is to maintain the cooperation and exchange information between all QA initiatives and to keep alignment and harmonization of the different QA activities in the region. In the year 2007, one meeting for 6 initiatives has been done; the second meeting had been organized on the 7th of January 2010. New players as the association of the Islamic countries for QAA had been added to the group and the British council for NENA region had been removed as they stopped the program for regional QA.
The outcomes of this meeting are cooperation between ANQAHE and DAAD. Two joint activities have been studied between DAAD and ANQAHE. The first one is to organize a conjoint workshop on the learning outcomes and student involvement in QA in Cairo in October 2010. The preparation of this workshop started in April 2010.The second action was that DAAD sponsored a German expert to participate in a workshop organized by ANQAHE and conducted in Morocco in March, 2010.
The British Council invited most of the participants of this meeting to the international conference "4 global education" held in London in March, 2010. Another opportunity was created to meet and exchange information about QA in the region in this international conference.
The final report of the policy dialogues is published on the website and sent to all participants (annex1). The evaluation of this meeting was rated excellent. ANQAHE intends to send a letter to all participants every four months to follow up any bilateral activities between participants of the meeting. The Jordan Quality Assurance agency shared in financing this activity

1.3 Developing a Multiple Languages QA Glossary
ANQAHE developed a committee headed by Dr. Faissal El Hag the vice president of ANQAHE, originally from Sudan and Dr. Tariq Al Sindi, the secretary General of ANQAHE from Bahrain, Dr. Eikleif Tarawnah board member of ANQAHE from Jordan to develop the first Arabic/English draft. A member from the North African region should be added to this group to be responsible for the French part of the glossary. A first draft is expected to be reviewed by the end of April. According to the indicators, the outcome of this activity should be apparent by the end of 2010
Report: Sudan Nov 2009 Workshop
1.4 Regional Workshop and Training on “Internal and External QA of Agencies”
ENQA invited Dr. Badrawi to be a speaker in a seminar on the internal quality assurance of Quality assurance agencies in June 2009 in The Hague in Holland. Further to this activity ANQAHE and DAAD jointly conducted a seminar on "Improving the Management of Quality assurance in the Arab Region: Agencies and Universities working together"
ANQAHE/DAAD invited a speaker from ENQA to explore the system of internal and external quality assurance in the European agencies.
This seminar enhanced the Quality assurance capacity in the Arab countries. The number of the Arab countries involved in this activity was 14, the number of participants was 51, the number of international organization was 6 and the number of speaker was 13 .
The evaluation of the participants was excellent and the final report is publish on the website (annex 2)
The outcome of this activity is the discussion in many agencies on developing a system for Quality assurance and enhancing the capacity if the agencies in this field. UAE agency is leading in this field

1.5 Sub Regional workshop on “Establishment of QA agencies” in Morocco
A Sub Regional workshop for enhancement of quality assurance capacity in Morocco had been conducted successfully on the 29 and 30 of March, 2010. The North African Arab Countries has been invited to co-organize this workshop including Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya in addition to the Morocco.
ANQAHE sent an invitation to all those countries to host the workshop; Morocco responded and accepted the invitation. Dr. Badr Aboul Ela the vice president of ANQAHE was the main organizer in this workshop. The number of participants was 29, the number of countries involved was 7 and the number of speakers was 5 one of them was sponsored by DAAD
The publication of this activity is not yet published since the activity was accomplished the 30 of March.
The ministry of higher education co- financed the Moroccan participants
1.6 Participation in International Conferences
ANQAHE sponsored one person to participate in the Islamic Conference in Malaysia. The Islamic conference invited Dr. Badrawi as a main speaker in this conference. The outcome of this conference was establishment of an association of all quality assurance agencies in the Islamic countries.
ANQAHE also sponsored one person to attend the CHEA conference in USA.
A call to sponsor participants to the Namibia forum organized by INQAAHE had been announced to all quality assurance agencies. Four person applied but unfortunately none of them could travel due to difficulties in issuing the visa or the health certificate
2. Development of Regional Qualifications Framework
ANQAHE started this activity by developing a call for consultant to carry out the work (annex 3). This call had been uploaded on the website. We received four applications. A core group from the executive board is studying the application to choose a consultant to conduct the task
3 Upgrading the website
3.1 Expansion and maintenance of ANQAHE web site including on-line forum discussions
Updating the website of ANQAHE is in process. A new version of the website is about to be launched. Dr. Tariq Al Sindi from Bahrain and Dr. Ahmed Samir from Egypt are working together to develop the new version which is expected to be launched on the first of May. The
